Early Years Foundation Stage enjoyed their first parent’s reading session. A great chance to share stories with children and adults. Remember this will happen every Friday 9 – 9.30!
In English, class 3 used drama to role play how it might have felt to hunt in Stone Age times.
We were hunting a woolly mammoth!
In our Design and Technology lesson, Class 3 worked in groups to decide how we could improve the taste, nutrition and appearance of Stone Age recipes. Last week we tasted potage which the Stone Age people would have eaten. It wasn’t very tasty!
In Design and Technology, Year one were looking at healthy eating plates. They enjoyed learning about what foods are healthy to eat.
Early Years are learning about explorers. They had an explorer day. We started by doing our own exploring to see what we could find. We saw it was very frozen and investigated how it felt. We saw lots of things including aeroplanes, birds, trees and Stick Man. We had an explorer snack then did lots of activities including making earth and making telescopes.
Class 1 are looking at ‘Man on the Moon’ by Simon Bartram in English and early flight in Humanities. To kick this term off we made our own class rocket, to accompany this we also made our own planets. Our book was found outside, wrapped in golden paper. It surely came down from space?
Class 3 have enjoyed getting ‘hooked’ into our Stone Age project for the spring term. We have used chalk to make handprints, painted animals onto rocks like cave paintings, made spears and made ourselves as Stone Age people. We also had some amazing Stone Henge models made for Christmas homework.
In IT, Year 1 are learning about data collection and how to group different objects to make it easier to find things. Great job Year 1!
To launch our Victorian history learning, Year 5 and Year 6 children were visited by two time-travellers called Miss Fox and Mr Cook. Children questioned them to understand the similarities and differences between now and then.
Congratulations for attending school for the last 12 days of term. Our winner has also attended school every day since the start of the academic year.
Enjoy watching a film of your choice with your family.
Congratulations to our Year 6 pupil for winning the ‘Best in School’ Christmas card entry. She thoroughly enjoyed reading the letter sent by Lillian Greenwood MP.
Several pupils were also awarded certificates. Our pupils are truly creative, talented and display a range of artistic skills.
You should be very proud of your achievements – we are!
Congratulation to our Maid Marion, who are the House team winners this term.
They won the most points for displaying our core values, school rules and going and above and beyond.
Well done Maid Marion!
Congratulations to our pupils who were recognised for their achievement, behaviour or kindness this term.
They reflected our school rules and core values in abundance. We are very proud of their achievements. Well done!
A group of pupils in Year 6 welcomed our gardening partners back for a little light winter preparation. They planted the boat ready for Spring colour and the allotment has had a fresh covering of bark. The children are really enjoying the improvements that they have helped make to our site. 😁 We also discovered some fabulous fungi, and wonderful worms, a sure sign our soil is healthy and fertile. Looking forward to planting the raised beds in Spring and enjoying another harvest.
Children in Years 1-6 visited St Peter’s Church to meet Rev Nameem. The children enjoyed watching and listening to the Nativity Story. They learnt about the meaning of Christingle and every child helped to create a Lego Christingle!
As always our pupils made us incredibly proud with their beautiful singing.
We really enjoyed celebrating the work of the children this half term with their parents as part of the KS1 Project Exhibition! The children got to demonstrate what they’ve learnt about maps in geography, schools in the past in history and sketching techniques in art. Thank you to all the parents that attended.
In Year 2, we had great fun using chalk to map out maps of our playground as part of our Geography learning.
Thank you to all the parents who visited our Autumn Term Project Exhibition. Children and parents completed a craft activity linked to our geography and art learning this term. After that, children spoke about their learning across the curriculum.
Well done everyone!
Reception children did a great job of using Fred talk to complete their writing in phonics!
This afternoon Year 6 had their Christmas Experience with CrossTeach. Children visited the three different zones to develop their understanding about the story of Jesus’ birth. Throughout the session, children collaborated to complete tasks to support their learning.
Year 5 and 6 went on a local walk as part of our fieldwork for Geography. We collected data on the flora, fauna and litter at a lake. Year 5 were lucky enough to see a heron! Both classes recorded their observations well and will now analyse the data. Well done!
In Art in Year 2, we have had a lovely time drawing observational drawings of trees and then using sketching techniques to produce detailed drawings in our sketchbooks.
Reception enjoyed being outside exploring the ice. They talked about how the snow had turned to ice and it felt so hard. They then decided to try and break the ice. They found that was quite tricky to do so tried using cones and tools to help them.
Look at our amazing sketching and shading techniques! Class 6 are very creative and artistic, well done.
Today Year 6 had a visit from a maths specialist, who has given us some extra fluency ideas. We had a go at a fun and effective ‘factor bug’ game. Mrs Gill left us with a challenge for homework and we’d love to see as many children as possible having a go. There will be Dojos awarded. But remember, no Googling!
Can you make a factor bug with the most legs (find a number up to 100 with the most factors)? See the attached example for a reminder and some fantastic whiteboard work, well done!
Reception enjoyed their Beat Feet session this morning. They learnt a new dance and followed instructions so well.
Our Community Rangers planned a variety of activities to raise money to support other children and families in need. They wore bright and fun outfits, took part in a fun run, completed Children in Need maths and art-based activities. Our generous parents kindly donated cakes for our Community Rangers to sell to all classes.
Thank you so much to all of our families for your support.
Children in Reception, Class 1 and 2 took part in a Beat Feet dance workshop. They listened to an African story and then learnt a series of actions in time to the music. They retold the story using expression, rhythm, actions and movement to music.
