Yesterday afternoon, Year 6 enjoyed watching Cinderella at Nottingham Playhouse. Children very loudly took part in the usual pantomime audience participation as well as enjoying the songs, the jokes and the special effects.
Yesterday Year 6 hosted their Autumn Project Exhibition. Children shared their learning from subjects including history, art, design and technology and geography. Finally, parents and children completed an art activity together. This involved using their art learning to create a Christmas card. Thank you to all who attended.
Our pupils could hardly contain their excitement whilst Lilian Greenwood announced the runner up winners of the Christmas Card Competition.
Congratulations to our Year 6 pupil, who was awarded the runner up prize. She showed great artistic talent and skill with her creative festive artwork. We also had two other runners up, who were recognised for their exceptional artwork.
We are so proud all of our pupil entries. They are amazing!
Thank you to Santa’s helpers for making our Christmas trees look wonderful 🎄🎄
Our pupils and staff enjoyed a truly delicious Christmas Dinner today. Snapping crackers, Christmas cheer and laughter and music danced around the dining room. What a wonderful celebration that was enjoyed by all. Thank you to our amazing catering team too 😊
Children had a wonderful time during the Tooti Frootie workshop. Everyone had the most amazing time singing, dancing and drumming. We even met puppet lions, a giraffe and a huge snake. They loved it!
This afternoon, Year 6 completed some fieldwork as part of their geography learning. Children practised their map skills while enjoying a local walk which focussed on leisure activities. They then compared their findings to their recent study of Innsbruck, Austria.
It was so lovely to see so many of our year 3 and 4 parents at our project exhibition. We used chalk to create Iron Man pictures, used QR codes to find out about the features of Antarctica and finished with a song about the continents. A real showcase of our autumn learning.
In Science Class 3 were investigating different shaped magnets to find out which one attracted the most paperclips. We used a bar, ring, button, paddle and horseshoe magnet. Which one do you think is the strongest?
This afternoon Year 6 have been completing their own experiments in science. Children investigated the affect of exercise on heart rate. After completing two minutes of exercise, children measured their heart rates every minute to see what happens.
This morning volunteers from Capital One joined the Key Stage 2 assembly to tell the children their maths stories. Year 5 then participated in a workshop highlighting the importance of maths in the work place as well as every day life.
The children took part in our money. Every class looked at the Five Big Questions about money from the Lifesavers programme.
The five big questions were: Where does our money come from? How does Money make us feel? What can we use our money for? How does our money help other people? How can we look after our money?
The children really enjoyed their sessions and found out lots about the different coins and notes that we use to pay for things, what we would spend our money on and how we might need to prioritise what we spend, so the children then discussed what was a need and what was a want. Lots of important discussions were had and the children gained a better understanding on the importance of money and how it affects us all.
Four of our Year 5 pupils who wanted to find out more about how to improve mental health for pupils in our school attended the Nott Alone Mental Health workshop at Notts County. It was a great opportunity to visit a variety of different stalls where the children found out about organisations that work and support children and their families. They took part in creative art workshops which included creating bracelets and clay models to express themselves. The children thoroughly enjoyed the day and couldn’t wait to share what they had learnt with the rest of the school.
Thank you to our wonderful parents who led Diwali assembly. Our pupils listened to why Hindus celebrate the festival of lights and how it is celebrated. All pupils made a wish whilst holding a candle. Each class was given fruit to share and celebrate the event.
Making mini fires, mini animal dens, traps, digging for treasure, making animal footprints, jewellery and so much more! It was the best!
Thank you so much to our Community Rangers for organising our Children in Need Day. So far we have raised a whopping total of £618.40. Our pupils looked spectacular in their home made t-shirts! Our parents kindly donated cakes to sell and the whole school took part in the Pudsey Fun run. We had a wonderful day raising funds to make a different to others. Thank you so much for your support.
Yeaar 3 had a great day out at Think Tank science museum in Birmingham. Lots of hands-on exhibitions to explore, a Lego coding workshop followed by outdoor exploration in the science garden.
We made a colour snake using two primary colours. It was so much fun! Can you make a colour snake?
This year’s theme is ‘Make A Noise About Bullying’. In assembly, we discussed the difference between banter and bullying.
Children wore their odd socks to celebrate what makes us all unique. Pupils were also reminded of the trusted adults in school and Mental Health Ambassadors they can talk too.
We discussed what bullying is and what we can do to stop it and who we can trust to talk too if we have a problem – we’re making a noise for anti-bullying week!
The week started with children wearing odd socks to symbolize that it’s okay to be different and to celebrate individuality. We then had an assembly where the children learnt about bullying and how it affects our mental health and emotional wellbeing and why it is so important to make a noise about it to stop it! The children took part in activities in their classes to reinforce the importance of not bullying and to promote positive relationships.
Today we made Divas and learnt about Diwali, which is the festival of light. Happy Diwali to everyone who celebrates it. 🎆
Children across school took time to reflect for Remembrance Day. Through poetry, art and reading of varied texts, they remembered those who have showed immense courage and died in all wars.
Our Year 6 Community Rangers read Flanders Field in our Remembrance Assembly, before our minutes silence and listening to the Last Post.
What an amazing afternoon in forest schools – we had the best time pretending to be Percy the park keeper. We made dens, jewellery, firework conkers, tree swings, toasted marshmallows to make smores and so much more! It was the best day ever!
This week Early Years have been learning about Bonfire Night, Diwali and Remembrance Day. We did lots of creative work including colour mixing, cutting and sticking and using rice to make rangoli patterns.
Today our Community Rangers and Green Team members supported the Day of Action Litter pick. With the help of Councillor Pavlos Kotsonis and other community members, we cleaned the local park and streets. Our pupils showed great perseverance and were proud to make oor neighbourhood look great!
