Children had an opportunity to recall the traditional celebration held at the time of a harvest. Thank you to the generous donations from our families to support our local food bank.
Our local PSCOs and Education Project Support Officer visited our Mini Police Cadets. They were awarded with Vicky McClure’s children’s Book “Castle Rock Mystery Tour” for completing the programme. We are very proud of their achievements. Well done!
Author Bemma Akyeampong visited pupils to celebrate Black History Month and the theme of ‘Saluting our Sisters’. In recognition of Lauren James sporting achievements, Bemma incorporated traditional African dance moves with football skills. Our pupils enjoyed learning new dance moves and displayed great talent!
As part of National Poetry Day and Black History Month, we celebrated by listening to the Wonderful Jamaican poet, Valerie Bloom. She read her poems about her memories of Jamaica in a mixture of English and Patois.
Year 6 have concluded their Into University Focus Week with a visit to the University of Nottingham. Children participated in a campus tour, a final presentation before GRADUATION!
Year 6 Leavers Assembly was pure brilliance. With performances worthy of the Royal Albert Hall, we were entertained with magic, dance, music and poetry to name just a few.
We laughed and we cried, with tears of joy and sadness.
We wish our unique and talented pupils the brightest of futures. We will miss each and every one of you!
Our Art Ambassadors and resident artist from Nottingham Contemporary, officially opened our History Timeline this week!
Pupils from across the school, staff and parents contributed to its design as part of the Schools of Tomorrow project. Our Art Ambassadors, worked with a graphic designer to complete the final piece.
They certainly enjoyed the after party celebration to reward and acknowledge their creativity!
Today we recognised the amazing achievements of pupils for their behaviour, achievement and kindness. It was wonderful to hear of their successes this term and how they represent our core values.
We also celebrated pupil attendance the House Team Award, which went to Friar Tuck!
We are so proud of all of pupils. Well done!
A brilliant morning where students took on an adrenaline-fueled Sports Day that had our school buzzing with excitement!

They all had a go with buckets of energy and oodles of team spirit! Then to top things off, the children got to witness a thrilling showdown as Year 6 faced off against the staff in an epic football match! The atmosphere was electric, with cheers and laughter filling the air as both teams left it all on the pitch! We couldn’t be prouder of our talented students for their fantastic participation and for supporting their fellow students and staff.
The children enjoyed taking part in kindness activities to celebrate RSE day. We discussed what kindness means to us and then the children created their own designs. Our Mental Health Ambassadors will choose 2 designs so that they can be made into material squares which will be sent away to an artist, who will create a collaborative RSE Day Kindness quilt. The classes also created their own recipes for friendship and kindness jars filled with positive affirmations.’
We had a wonderful afternoon celebrating our final event with the Young Readers Programme. Paul Cookson inspired pupils with his creative and humorous poetry through a series of fun events – creating poems, making bookmarks, listening to stories and receiving their chosen book. Our afternoon finished with a celebration to showcase our class poems. Thank you so much to the National Literacy Trust and Young Readers Book Programme.
To complete a wonderful week of community celebrations, pupils enjoyed an afternoon of team games and sports. From pass the hoop and ball, floor is lava – our pupils showed great collaboration, communication and team spirit.
Wow! What a celebration we had for the King’s Coronation Day. Drumming, crafting, eating, dancing and singing. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thank you! 👑🇬🇧
We had a lovely end to the term rewarding children’s good behaviour with a visit from Hoots Owls. The children learnt about how they move, what they eat & how they listen to sounds. The children got to hold the owls and were surprised at how soft they were.
Well done to all our of pupils who received the Bronze Attendance Award for attending school every day this term. We also incredibly proud of those pupils who achieved the Silver Award for attending school every day this academic year!
Today our pupils performed with energy, confidence and pride for their family and friends. They sang beautifully, performed their own rap with and danced with skill and precision.
It has been a true pleasure to watch the children grow and develop over the term. Thank you to Freedom Dance Factory for the opportunity given to our pupils.
This afternoon, Year 6 welcomed Cross Teach back for their Easter experience. Children participated in a crime scene investigation about the death of Jesus before deciding who was guilty of his murder…
Thank you to everyone who supported Comic Relief on Friday. We raised £152.70 through our cake sale and non-uniform. Pupils shared their favourite jokes, filling our school with laughter.

Wow what a wonderful day we have had!
The school was full of pupils dressed as authors, books characters or looking very cosy in their lounge wear or pyjamas!
Pupils started the day meeting author Bemma Akyeampong, who shared her story of becoming an author. They even learnt to sing a Ghanaian song about a turtle!
After, classes took part in different activities, to promote a love of reading and feel the excitement a book creates. Not forgetting the knowledge that is promoted too!
Staff at Southwold Primary started National Storytelling week off by sharing their favourite stories with their classes.
National Storytelling Week takes place every year and is a celebration of the power of sharing stories. Stories teach us about the world, they allow us to step into someone else’s shoes and feel empathy, they help us to relax and escape and they can help develop essential literacy skills.
