Welcome to Class 2’s Page!
Spring in KS1
This term we are excited for our ‘How can we explore our world?’ project. In the first half term, we will discover great explorers and learn about their remarkable achievements in history. Then, in the second half term, we will celebrate our wonderful world and learn more about the different places, environments and features of our planet.
In English, we are reading the beautifully written and illustrated; Leaf by Sandra Dieckmann, The Great Explorer by Chris Judge, and Lubna and Pebble by Wendy Meddour. These stories will help us bring to life different experiences across our world through rich discussion, vocabulary work and imaginative writing.
In Maths, our focus will a continuation of place value before moving onto addition and subtraction – through practical activities, fluency practise and opportunities for reasoning and problem solving.
In Science, the children will explore three engaging topics: Animals Including Humans, Seasons, and Plants. These units will involve observations, investigations, and plenty of opportunities to explore the natural world around us – with wonderful links to our work in Forest Schools too!
In Design & Technology the children will be developing their fine motor skills and creativity by sewing a hand puppet. Followed be Art & Design after half term, where the class will experiment with different textures to create collage.
The children will also get to enjoy a range of activities that broaden their outlook, give time for group discussion and personal though and provide fun opportunities for expression in RE, SCARF (PSHE), Music and Computing.
